IT ALL STARTED WITH A JOURNEY ……

When coming to Los Angeles in 2023, Jamael Shotomide was living the experiences that would later fuel him to write the album “Freshman”.

Originally titled “The Underdawg”, the album was written to symbolize the meaning of his coming of age. While upon this journey, he fell on many hardships including car accidents, failing relationships and the untimely passing of his mother’s death. While this news and string of bad luck would be sure to knock anyone down and out, the young writer found himself tasked with an even more important battle.

It was at this moment Jamael decided to fully delve into filmmaking and music, taking it more seriously than ever before.
